Copy of your I-485 receipt notice
Copy of a photo ID: passport bio page or driver's license
Two passport-style photos
Check the edition date at the bottom of each form page on uscis.gov. Old editions are rejected
Sign every form by hand in black ink, keep a full copy, mail with tracking

Before you travel

Do not leave the US until the card is in your hand. Leaving without it usually abandons your I-485
Apply months early: processing often takes several months
If you ever overstayed a visa, talk to an attorney before you leave
